How can I control my appetite while taking an ssri?
I gained 40 lbs. on Zoloft and then lost 30 lbs after being off of it for two years. When my symptoms returned, I was put on Lexapro. I have gained 28 lbs. in the past year and a half! I cannot seem to control my appetite!!!!!
You don’t need to suppress your appetite to lose weight, you have to eat when you are hungry. Just don’t eat junk. Eat 9 servings of vegetables and fruit a day and you will have a full stomach all day. Don’t eat more than a 3rd of your fat calories from saturated fat, which means you can still use reasonable amounts of olive oil. Eat lean meats and fish which has been weighed to ensure your diet is balanced. And eat whole grains like oatmeal and whole wheat bread. I did this and lost 70 pounds in 18 months.
