(diet) Which nurse is wrong?
The clinic nurse told me to eat extremely low fat and whole grains for heart health, workout strength and Weight Loss. The school nurse told me to eat small frequent meals high in healthy protein and olive oil to get my sugar numbers way down as soon as possible. Who is right? Why such disparate answers?
Neither. You need a balanced approach. Keep your blood sugar low by staying away from foods high in sugar or starch (avoid rice, pasta, corn, sugar, potatos). Eat lean meats, whole grains, plenty of green vegetables, but eat fruits sparingly. Protein and olive oil are quite healthy. I wouldn’t eat a Low Fat Diet, you’ll end up starving and quitting. I wouldn’t eat a high fat/Protein Diet, you’ll end up feeling miserable. Keep your total calorie count low, keep the nutrition in your food high and keep the sugars and starches very low, and you should see your sugar numbers decreasing in no time.
